Kick-Back Stack

Sunny’s eyes just about came out of her head when the waitress at Kick Back Jack’s set these monster blueberry pancakes down in front of her.

My dear wife had her revenge, though: she made it through about 80% of this massive stack, then jumped back into the car and drove another four hours.

Never underestimate the ability of a thin person to make food just seem to disappear.

Healthy, Tasty, Breakfast, Shanghai

How I eat at a hotel buffet today. 3.5 oz of smoked turkey, 4 egg whites, and a rice cake after a bracing 35 minutes on the treadmill.

No idea what the day will bring, but at least I’m starting off with the carbs and fats under control.

Morning Hydration

Daily pre-noon intake (mostly liquid): Left to Right

Overnight oats with protein, blueberries, and unsweet almond milk; Black Rifle coffee (10oz) in Geek cup; English Breakfast Tea (32 oz); water (64 oz); water with BCAAs and electroylytes (32oz).

By noon, solid foods are looking REALLY good.

My Liquid Power Breakfast

I am short 26 days to retirement, and I am finding that I need all the help I can get to stay focused. Keeping my morning meals liquid has helped. Clockwise from left:

  • 64oz of ice water with 1.5 scoops of electrolytes
  • 50 grams of rolled oats and 32 grams of whey protein with 3 ounces of water (for a treat, I swap the water for plain unsweetened almond milk)
  • 32oz of homemade cold brew (Black Rifle Freedom Fuel dark roast)
