Mugology: Hydroflask FTW

The Hydro Flask is ridiculously expensive, by far the costliest caffeine receptacle in the house. It is finicky, requiring a hand-wash (and occasional de-staining with a soak in white vinegar), and heavier than a wet collie. But damned if it doesn’t chill my day-old coffee and keep it cold all day so that I can sip and not gulp the stuff.

Heat

I like my coffee hot.

To clarify, that is “hot” as in “hot food,” not “hot” as in “hot lava.”

K? Kthxbye.

Morning Hydration

Daily pre-noon intake (mostly liquid): Left to Right

Overnight oats with protein, blueberries, and unsweet almond milk; Black Rifle coffee (10oz) in Geek cup; English Breakfast Tea (32 oz); water (64 oz); water with BCAAs and electroylytes (32oz).

By noon, solid foods are looking REALLY good.

Lunch on Urth

Finally arrived at Urth after a long journey. Some evidence of intelligent life: unbelievable coffee and a pot roast sandwich that brought tears of sheer joy to my eyes.

Monday (n): The day of the week when I must remind myself that coffee is not a beverage, but a semi-addictive over-the-counter drug.

My Liquid Power Breakfast

I am short 26 days to retirement, and I am finding that I need all the help I can get to stay focused. Keeping my morning meals liquid has helped. Clockwise from left:

  • 64oz of ice water with 1.5 scoops of electrolytes
  • 50 grams of rolled oats and 32 grams of whey protein with 3 ounces of water (for a treat, I swap the water for plain unsweetened almond milk)
  • 32oz of homemade cold brew (Black Rifle Freedom Fuel dark roast)

Hope everyone had a safe and fun July 4th weekend!
