Mugology: Beating Denny’s

When I was a kid, we always looked forward to meals on our summer road trips. We knew that, if nothing else, there was Denny’s.

Denny’s is not what it used to be, but when we hit the road beyond California, there is Cracker Barrel. CB’s menu, quality, and service makes it easy to forget the other roadside chains. It’s like Howard Johnson’s, only…country.

Fixed the Grill

After spending a day cleaning the range and a lump of cash having professional cleaning of the hood and can above it, and then setting off the smoke alarm ten dinners in a row, I decided that it was time to start cooking outside on the grill.

What bliss to be able to sear, brown, and burn food to my heart’s delight without fear of making the whole house smell like a barbecue joint for days afterwards.

Turkey Smash

Sunny’s homemade turkey smash burger: half a pound of 99% lean ground turkey breast in three patties; two thick slices of fresh white onion; two tablespoons of Walden Farms zero-calorie Thousand Island dressing, all on an Albertsons Signature Kaiser roll.

Goodbye junk food.
